Welcome

Welcome to The Nilgiris-Wayanad National Highway and Railway Action Committee

The Nanjangod-Nilambur Railway line connecting Mysore with Malabar was in active consideration and discussion for more than a century. The survey of this railway line was conducted by the then British Government in 1926 itself as the shortest rail route to connect Kerala with Mysore and Banglore. Hue and cry for this railway line for various reasons raised by the beginning of this century followed by two surveys conducted by the railway department. Recently during 2010 the Planning Board has sanctioned the estimated project cost for the construction of about 260 K.M’s of railway line connecting Nanjangod to Nilambur via Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad District. .

By and large people of these districts depend the cities of Mysore and Banglore for education, health care, employment and trade. The night traffic ban has seriously affected even the normal life of these districts. N.H.212 is the vital High Way which connects Kerala with Karnataka especially Banglore where as the western Tamil Nadu relay on NH 67 to access Karnataka.
